I am a carpenter based in Walthamstow, London. If you’re looking for a carpenter you can read about the sort of work I take on here. If you’re only here to flick through before and after photos, you can do that in my portfolio.

Most of my spare time is spent experimenting and making things with bits of dead tree. Occasionally I will create something pretty nice which may end up in my shop, feel free to check it out and buy something.

Who is AO Carpentry

After 10 years working in the film and tech industry, in 2020 I decided to try working for myself and follow my passion. I had been planning to build a workshop in my garden for the past 18 months; lockdown presented the perfect opportunity. As of September 2020, this is what my workshop looks like:

I got into carpentry fitting kitchens back in 2002. After a few years of graft, I went to study economics at university but I carried on fitting kitchens every summer when I came home from university. I have been making my own furniture for as long as I can remember.

Over the past 5 years, my knowledge and skills have grown considerably as I’ve taken on increasingly complex and unique jobs.

I read books on carpentry, trees and wood finishing. I work with carpenters who specialise in sash windows or who have built ornate oak doors for churches in small Spanish villages, and I quiz the carpenters I work with until they lunge at me with a chisel.

I occasionally volunteer my time to VIY, a charity that helps the local community with building projects whilst educating college students on site.

Basically, I love carpentry and am truly passionate about it.

Why would anyone want to use AO Carpentry?

Why wouldn’t you?!
